Goodbuy Ram 1500 REV; hello Ford F150 Lightning

September 15th 2025 Goodbuy Ram 1500 REV; hello Ford F150 Lightning

Stellantis has decided to discontinue the all-electric Ram 1500 EV. The reason is obvious: interest in large electric pickups simply proves too low.

At the New York Auto Show in March 2023, Ram proudly presented the 1500 REV, intended as an answer to models such as the Chevrolet Silverado EV and the Ford F-150 Lightning. These electric alternatives were to play a role alongside the immensely popular combustion-engine pickups in the US. Ford already had to scale back production of the Lightning due to disappointing sales, and the Ram 1500 REV meets an even harsher fate: it doesn't even make it to the showroom.

Initially scheduled for market introduction in 2024, it was later postponed to 2026. But it is now clear that the project will not go forward. Stellantis explains that, due to declining interest in electric full-size trucks in North America, development plans are being halted. The "1500 REV" model name, by the way, will remain, but will move to a different vehicle: the Ram 1500 Ramcharger.

That Ramcharger combines two electric motors with a 92 kWh battery pack, but also features a 3.6-liter V6. This engine never drives the wheels directly; it acts solely as a generator to recharge the battery.

With this change, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger will now be called the Ram 1500 REV. According to the brand, this model should become a new reference in the half-ton segment, with impressive range, load capacity and towing power.

Our advice is: order from us inexpensively the proven Ford F150 Lightnong or ... Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra Denali EV, GMC Hummer EV.  Also available as a young used vehicle
